Strzelecki railway turntable remains

Strzelecki railway turntable remains
Right at the very end of the long abandoned Koo Wee Rup to Strzelecki railway line are these abutments for a turntable. The line ends here with nowhere to go on the side of a ridge. The railway opened in 1922, but was closed between Triholm and Strezlecki only 8 years later. This was the section with the largest engineering works with a climb of about 200m in about 8.5 kilometres. The 40km from Koo Wee Rup to Triholm is only a 100m rise.
I heard a story that when the last train crossed a very large trestle on the way up to Strzelecki it swayed dangerously. On the way back the crew sent the locomotive across un-manned, too afraid to cross it themselves in case it collapsed (which it didn’t). The line was closed after that.
